Well I convinced the wife that Mammoth Cave Ky. was a good vacation destination so we are going in July. She didn't realize until later that the Corvette Plant was near there. Does any have any recomendations for upscale accomodations in that area. Also any info about tours parks etc. Our 6 year old daughter will be with us. Thanks in advance.

Re: Corvette plant, Bowling Green Ky
You're going to want to stay in Bowling Green proper to have anything like upscale accomodations. That will get you within 20 - 30 miles of the Cave and the Corvette factory and museum. If you stay up closer to those attractions, you'll not have upscale accomodations and you'll have vertually no dinner choices nearby other than fast food and driving back to Bowling Green.
There are MANY different cave tours you can take. They fill up fast, so I suggest you google to find their web site and reserve tickets soon. You can also read about all the different tour options.
Of course, no trip to that area would be complete without a trip to BOTH the corvette museum AND the Corvette Factory tour. Again, I think you can reserve tickets for the factory tour on the Web and I would suggest it.- Top

Re: Corvette plant, Bowling Green Ky
It is not upscale, but at Cave City there is the "Wigwam Motel". One of 3 in the world where you get to stay in a Wigwam. http://www.wigwamvillage.com http://www.galerie-kokopelli.com/wigwam/history.html- Top

Keep in mind that Corvette Assembly plant tours (three times each weekday) now cost $5 per person and they do accept reservations. I suggest you avail yourself of their on-line reservations

Re: Corvette plant, Bowling Green Ky
You can always stay at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville since it is 1 hour from BG and 1 1/2 from the Cave. That's upscale and somewhat convenient to your destination. The Opryland Hotel should meet her expectations!- Top

Re: Corvette plant, Bowling Green Ky
Depending on how long your planning to stay, another option is to stay in Louisville...lots of up-scale hotels. It's an hour or so North of Bowling Green and Mammoth Cave. You can take in some horse racing at Churchill Downs. Nashville is a good option as well.- Top

Re: Corvette plant, Bowling Green Ky
My wife and I always stay at the hotel behind the restaurant, Montana Grille
1740 Scottsville Rd, Bowling Green, KY 42104-3350. Great food, architecture & a short drive to the museum/factory. (sorry, can't remember the hotel name)

Re: grand old opry hotel is definitely UPSCALE
If you are in Bowling Green over the 16th,17th,and 18th of June, the NHRA Hot Rod reunion is going on. It is held at the Bowling Green Dragstrip. Last year they had the Beach Boys in the band shell Saturday. I dont know who will be there this year. I will be doing Tech Inspection, and looking for delay boxes. (no electronics) D/- Top

Re: Corvette plant, Bowling Green Ky
Dennis,
The Museaum is great to tour any time your in Boweling Green because the displays are always changing.
You may want to check with Chevrolet on the plant tour as far as children are concerned. I was there with my grandson approx two years ago and was not allowed to tour plant because he was under age. This was never the case befor but was put into effect because the legal eagles felt there was a liability issue. I hope this policy will be or has been changed since then but I would call ahead first.
