1971 Fan Clutch

I am looking for a replacement fan clutch for my '71 small block. I presently have my original being rebuilt by Fred Oliva, but need one in the mean time.

In a post dated Friday April 14, 2006, Joe Lucia stated;

"GM #88961768 is the successor part number for what was probably the best performing fan clutch EVER used on a Corvette. As far as I can tell, the 88961768 is identical to that original clutch, GM #343721. The problem is these fan clutches are designed for use on 71+ Corvettes."

I called my local GM dealer and a dealer in the U.S, they both state this clutch is for a 85-91 GMC truck.

Is this the correct part number?

Any assistance is appreciated.

The GM #88961768 fan clutch does SERVICE many Chevrolet and GMC trucks. However, it also services many 1974-82 Corvette applications. It or its predecessors were never originally used on any 71-73 Corvette applications but it can be retrofitted to 71-73 Corvette applications.

Joe, based on Robert's early question and your response, when you say retrofitted, do you mean straight away bolt on without any modifications?

For 1971 and later Corvettes, yes.
