C1 Soft top window protector felt (gas tank cover)

As part of our resoration we are replacing the felt cover on the gas tank cover. This felt is used to protect the plastic window in the convertable top, when the top is down. We bought replacement felt piece from Corvette Central.
However, there is a couple of ways to install the felt, and need advice for the proper positioning. Is there a "trim size" for the felt, ie" does it need to be cut to size or not. Corvette Central does not know. if anyone has a digital picture, please send for exact positioning. Thanks, Susan
