Bless you, Rob.....You are indeed a gentleman and a scholar. I've had three people in my life that fought in World War campaigns all over the world:

- My Grandfather who fought in the WW1 trenches in France
- My Mother's first husband who was killed in the Battle of the Bulge by a sniper
- My 88 year old Father-in-law who fought in Africa, Sicily, landed at Anzio and was wounded twice at Monte Casino
- My own father who spent two years in the South Pacific on the island of Tinian as a medic, patching up all the flyers returning from bombing raids over Japan

Once again....thank you for taking the time to write and to share your thoughts!

Rob, In the memory of my Dad who was a radio operator on a B 17 in the Army Air Corp and my uncle Vincent who was with the Army Corp of Engineers in Burma, Thanks, your a class act!

Rob-- We were in Amsterdam a couple of years ago and could not find a place we were looking for. (we had passed it but our itinery was vague) A Dutch gentleman on a bicycle who spoke English saw our confusion and personaly escorted us back ( took 1/2 hr of his time)and showed us exactly what we were looking for. We thanked him and he said that our soldiers (Canadian) were among the soldiers who liberted them and that he felt that helping us was in recognition of that fact ,and in this small way he was helping to repay a debt of honour. Really friendly people.
