    C2 Seat Belts #

Does anyone know what the ink number on the inside of the buckle mean.
    The number is 127643 !
Also the buckle has a name of LESTER with a 6 or 1 below it along with the ID 8000-1-20 These are molded into the top cover.

Does anyone know how to take the buckle apart ?? Would like to clean.
    Thanks

    Alan,
Regarding taking the buckle apart, there was an excellent article in the Restorer Magazine called: 1965-1966 Seat Belt Buckle Restoration. Easy to follow and simple to do once you get a couple of tips. It was published in the Fall '96 issue.

    Regards,

      Thanks Gene,

Did the search for stuff on the site, looked in books, and Restorer CD. However the article, in 97 by Todd Hornsby, did not cover the disassembly of the buckle, pictures are too dark to use.
Is the shaft a press fit? OR ?
Do you need to bent the frame to remove the roller?
      These were not covered.

Is there another article that I do not have on CD?

        Alan,

Try the archives under "66 seat belts" March 05 . It is not a step by step but you get the idea.

Getting the buckle release latch off is your first objective. Study the buckle and you should find a small e-clip holding the pivot pin in place. From there, it's really a no-brainer.

One the latch is off the buckle body, you'll find there's 'no way' to remove the pinch roller. It can be done, mon, you have to GENTLY spread the sides of the buckle body, flip the pinch roller at a 45-degree angle across the two side slots (minimize the amount you have to spread the body side walls) and extract the pinch roller.
