      John, thanks for your comments. I would agree with your comments about not worrying about what is correct, but instead get the right one for the type of driving being done. As I had mentioned when I started this thread, the car will be driven very little over the next year and therefore probably doesn't matter. What I am trying to determine is the correct plug for my late June '56 because I am preping for Bloomington. I doubt seriously if I will be able to find the correct plugs anyway, but thought I would try to narrow it down. Thanks.

      BTW- there is no mention of spark plugs in the 56-57 JM for those who are giving direction to use what it says for judging.

        a lot of people think the ribs were put on

        the plugs to keep the boots in place BUT it was done to legthen the path the voltage had to travel outside the insulator to prevent the the voltage from jumping the insulator instead of firing the plug internally
