    Re: Fire wall holes

Ron, There shoudn't be any extra holes in the firewall that aren't used for something, if your car is stock. I do have a friend that fiberglassed his entire firewall over and plans to drill a new holes as the need arises!!!!!!

Use an assembly manual to figure out what the (stock) holes had in them. To restore unwanted additional holes, use bondo. To plug them, use body plugs from a hardware store, Chevy dealer, undercoating shop, etcetra. - Dave

        PS....

While AIM is handy, it's not exhaustive. Many depictions show only one focus and leave similar (redundant) tasks to the reader's imagination (apparently saved draftsman time). Plus, the dwgs lack qty-per notations on individual parts, so you can't figure out how many of a given screw, wrap, plug were actually used. Last, some areas of the AIM are outright wrong....

Example, look in any early Shark book and find the documentation for the rubber push-in fasteners used to install the rear carpet against the rear bulkhead. Tain't there! And, if you happen to have a convertible where the rear bulkhead is strategically abutted to the Astroventillation plenum and you fail to install these PIF jobbies, you'll suffer wet rear carpet each time it rains!
