    wonderbar Radio Whinning

I got my 1963 wonderbar Radio back from a delco repair shop, I install it work great without the engine running, when running it has a very bad whinning noise same speed as the engine RPM , is there any filter that gos on my power line going to the radio to remove the whinning all grounds are connected. Thanks Danny

Do you have all the capacitors installed in the electrical system?

Alternator, remove the fan belt and see if it goes away

All capacitors are there, call the radio repair shop, he said to install a filter on the power wire and give the radio another ground wire it should solve the problem .

          I agree with Roy...

whinning in lock-step to engine RPM is ususally alternator noise. There are two capacitors in the system that gate this high frequency noise to ground. One is on the voltage regulator and the other is on the back of the instrument cluster that attaches to the radio's power line. If they're there but not connected to ground properly OR they have a broken lead wire, that's where your problem lies.

The 'fix' described to you, put a 'boat anchor' of an RF noise filter on the radio's power line should also work. These are available at Radio Shack and instead of being capacitive (gate the RF noise on the line to ground), they're a good sized inductive choke (pass DC but block AC electrical components).
