62 340 HP Accelerator Spring and Bracket

Where and how does the accelerator spring bracket go? I know it gets attached to the engine by one of the intake manifold bolts on the LH side. Which one? The first one in the front? Or the second one back from the front? If it's the first one - the one that has the special stud for the expansion tank, does it go under the stud head? Or, on top? If it goes under the stud head - in between the stud head and the manifold, it'll get slightly deformed.

Here's another shot, 'scuse the filthy engine! FWIW, the return spring shown is actually a light green 250 hp spring sprayed white. The repro 340 spring is too long.

Rob, what makes you say the repro spring is too long?

If you recall I was having problems with my carb not returning to idle after cruising. Seemed like I had cruise control. I fixed it by rerouting the spring so it was stretched more.

          Chris-

I ordered a white spring about 18 months ago to replace the wrong one that was on the car when we got it, and it was just too long. I had the spring in exactly the same small hole in the throttle plate arm as you, but it was just too long, I dunno why.

FWIW, I think I have the accelerator arm mounted on the wrong side of the throttle linkage, at least based on the picture in the ST-12 that I'm remembering (which I don't have in front of me, I'm on the road for work).
