    Headlight bucket motor.

Ok Guys, I took out L/H C2 Bucket motor (with your help) .Tough pulling it out W/O scratching hood !!
Tommorow I will take it apart & operate. Now, How do I know when I put it back that it will be in position so that bucket opens/closes all the was since the motor only travels a limited distance. 180 degrees??? Thanks , don

    Re: Headlight bucket motor.

Actually, the gear that is driven is a 360 degree gear, and the travel is limited by the stops on the door mechanism, not the motor. One trick used for years is if the driven gear shows wear (since in use it only travels 180 degrees) replace it 180 out of phase so you will be using the "new" section of the gears. The unit will think (and act) just like it has a new gear, since you will be using the previously unused part. This doesn't work is someone got there before you, but reproductions are available if needed. When you take it apart, be VERY careful that you don't exert force on the shaft from the end opposite the gear. That end rides in a bushing that is held in place by "fingers" inside the motor, and if you push it is easy to push the bushing out of its; retainer and then you are in trouble. The motor shaft must be cleaned very well before making any attempt to remove it.
