C2 Alternator Diodes

The JG is clear as to what information should be stamped on each diode as well as color. However there is no mention as to what font or character size should be present. Can anyone shed some light on this? Too minor an issue to worry about? Hand letter them with a sharpie? Ok just kidding.

John Pirkle can supply diodes with the correct markings, either separately or as part of a restoration of your entire alternator. If you really want to try to duplicate this yourself, I can try to photograph my Pirkle-restored alternator for you.

There were multiple suppliers of diodes to GM back then and the parts came in marked per GM specs. So, you'll see different fonts depending on who supplied the diodes used in that particular alternator.

One way to 'skin the cat' is to visit your local scrap yard and find a real McCoy alternator from the era with at least one postive and one negative diode you can still read. Now, take a picture of the marks with a ruler in the photo for size reference.

Visit your local office supply store and have them make you a rubber stamp to match (figure $2-8 per stamp). Buy yourself a black + red ink pad and you're done.
