58-59 dash end caps? Stainless?

I just noticed the end caps are missing from my '58 dash. I see the correct part is a small stainless end piece, which apparently was changed to a plastic end cover from late '59-'62. I've seen what looks to be a small version of this from Zip, a slightly bigger version (as it looks in the pic) from Corvette Central, with CC's more expensive. They are advertised as "replacement" for 58-62. Nobody I can see offers the correct stainless part. One company sells a metal repro part, unpolished. Zip's lists the SS part, but its not available any more, just like in CC's.
Any info out there as to the possibility of getting the right parts? Are the plastic replacements good? Correct?

The end caps which took the place of the '58...

...style SS cap were made of (stamped) steel, (then painted), not plastic.

58/59 dash end caps have been dicontinued and are getting pretty had to find. Look for them at swap meets. If you want the 60/62 caps will work but not correct for that year.
