    oil pressure line install C1

I understand that there should be a coil effect with the oil pressure line in my '56. I am putting in a new one and want to do it correctly. Can someone tell me where within the line the coil should be, how many coils and possibly the best way to create this factory look. Thanks.

    Garry...

On my '61...I formed a 1 1/2 inch loop(coil) in the line before entering the firewall. a 1 1/2"dia. dowel or socket can be used to form the loop.

Check the compression nuts...if they are 3/8 inch hex...grind or file to 5/16 for judging.

Consider applying a little Loctite PST pipe thread sealant on the line nut threads and around the outside of the tube near the end where the nut swages to ensure no leakage.

Roy Braatz can give you more information on the location...

See a nice picture of the coil effect in this test report picture: http://www.c1registry.com/index.php?...age=9&art_id=0

this car was untouched when this picture was taken. BTW take some time to read the report and study the pictures, this is superb material!

      greetings,
      Rob.

Dennis and Rob, thanks for your comments and picture! I wonder though, should the coil be forward of the firewall or behind it under the dash? Dennis says under dash, picture shows engine compartment. We are getting there. Would there have been a difference in the early C1's versus the later (59-62)? Anyone out there have a '56 or '57 with the correct configured oil pressure line? Thanks.
