C3: Rear diff question

How do I empty the oil out of the rear diff so I can refill it (using the refill opening) with fresh oil?

go to local apothacary, buy 60cc syringe(bigger if available) and attach a 18" long piece of windshield wiper hose to the tip of the syringe. aspirate(i don't like to tell people to "suck") all the old gear oil you are able to, then refill. to completely drain the 3rd member, the rear cover has to come off. i'm assuming you are dealing with a c-2 or c-3 vette.goods luck and regards, mike

I just changed the oil in my transmission and rear end. Another option is a fluid pump that is hand operated available at auto parts stores for about 10 bucks. Mine came with a enough hose to reach well into the rear end and transmission and extract the old oil. You can the use the same pump to put the new oil in.
