67 BB HOODS ON FACTORY SB CARS... HOW TO DO IT???

First THANKS!!! TO ALL who replied to my first post re: paint color sources... Now for a new question. I'm looking for EXACT details [picture?] of HOW GM modified BB Hoods in 1967 for the very few SB vettes that received them in March. As I understand it [NCRS Judging guide] they mounted the hood prop in the normal for SB cars right side, not the left as BB hoods were designed for. There is no reinforced "pad" on the right side. So... EXACTLY WHAT did they do to the BB hoods to make this happen??? I could figure away to do it myself but would rather do it as GM did. ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!!! Doug 914-474-7827 NY

Douglas, There are many unique points to address in a "Small Block With Big Block Hood" (SBWBBH)car. Some are: NO evidence of the "hockey stick" hood support reinforcement ever being installed under the RIGHT inner fender, NO evidence of any attaching rivets for same being installed, although the holes may or may not be pierced in the inner fender, NO evidence of a steel attaching plate or threaded holes for a small block hood support on the RIGHT side of the hood meaning it is not a generic aftermarket hood, hood is painted solid body color with NO painted "stinger", I'm fairly sure that there was NO exterior hood scoop mldg in place either and,of course, NO "4-2-7" numerals or holes for same on hood scoop area. In addition, the LEFT side hood support was bolted to the hood as normal BB hood. Not sure if LOWER end of hood suppoprt had a "hockey stick" reinforcement riveted to LEFT inner fender. Mine has a section of steel strapping with NO rivets holding it on. Is it possible that the SB LEFT inner fender was a different part # than a BB and ,of course, had no provisions for a LEFT side lower hood support reinforcement so the plant was left to its own initiative to fabricate such a part due to the very low expected volume of SBWBBH cars?
All good food for thought. I can send photos to your email but not to this Board.

There has never been any example of this phenomenon ever documented, period, no matter what you have heard or read. I have looked for more than 30 years and have asked every time that this subject comes up, for any owner to step up and offer proof or let his vehicle be authenticated. To date there has never been an example that has the correct charachteristics. There have been many wannabees, none ever pan out. In my opinion this just one of many urban myths.
