I am thinking about making these surge tanks and I ran into a funning looking one at the NCRS show in Florida. I think it might be an early 69 (first design) tank. Can anyone verify this. The early one has part number 3010159 (68L date) and the standard one is 3019249 with (69J date). The brass surge tank was used on all 69-72 BB with air but I never heard of an early 69 version.

You only have to be concerned with reproducing one of these tanks----the GM #3019249. Unless, of course, you have a restoration market for folks restoring 1967-69 "G" body series 10 and 20 trucks with 8 cylinder engines and/or automatic transmissions. That's the only application for the GM #3010159. It was discontinued without supercession in November, 1970. I don't know what folks with "G" body trucks needing a tank did after that.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Who knows----it might be a very valuable find? There could be some guy out there with a 1967-69 G-body truck that's been looking for one of these since his dealer told him in late 1970 that the part was discontinued. Since then, his truck could have been sitting for want of a tank. Glory be! You've got what that guy's been looking for! ................it's possible! In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
