    1960 wiper vacume cannister

I am looking for a vacume cannister and valve for the wiper washer system on my 60 which is missing. Not having much luck bidding on e-bay..I have found the cannister at many of the usual suppliers but I can locate anyone with the valves. Are these no longer available in the aftermarket? Are they cannisters good repros are they correct? any Ideas? I'll contact Maryjo today. I probably wont hook up the washer system but would like to have the cannister mounted next to the washer bottle.

I also have a glass bottle mounted in a spring holder attached to the inner fender skirt in the area of the washer bottle. The bottle is a three sided configuration with a black metal screw on top. Looks like it might have been used to store extra non-diluted washer fluid. Appears very old and I wonder if this may have been a dealer install or just "Bubba" at work. (Boy does HE get around!)

    Roy, What do you think?

    Hi Don

Try Tom Maxwell. He does rebuilding of wiper stuff. He rebuilt things of mine. He is in the Drive Line book. He might have what you need or can repair it.

    Good luck...John

Don, the washer fluid goes in a rectangular plastic container with a gray top that says "Co-ordinator" on the top. Glass bottles were not factory issue on a 1960.

Joe I have the complete plastic "bottle" for the washer fluid, but there is an additional glass bottle in a spring steel holder. The bottle snaps into the holder. It is mounted on the skirt also. It looks like the holder is of a Gm type fastened with the same type screws as the wire harness J clips around the inner skirts. Thought maybe it was a dealer added option (like Roys Shaver or tissue box). Perhaps Roy has seen these before. It really doesn't look like a "Bubba" Item. This car was soooo correct with a garage full of NOS parts Still in the boxes and bags when I bought it, that I find it hard to believe the original owner would have keep this part when he started but never finished the resto project.

Very common GM passenger car bottle/bracket used throughout the early and ;mid 60's on many models. Easily grabbed for $1 at a boneyard back in those days. Readily found in boneyards now--up to $4-5.

Many GM cars in the 60's had that three sided bottle for the washer fluid you mentioned but not Corvette, even "Chevy" dint offer it as a accessory, but you could buy it.

Thanks Roy and others, I'll leave it in as it seems to be period correct, albiet not dealer installed, kind of like a personal choice by the original owner, a blast from the past!

But what about the cannister and valve who got the valve, I can find the cannister repro.

Tom Maxwell is in Florida on vacation until mid-April. His number is 301 948 9481. I believe that Carol at Grossmueller's told me that she had some cannisters with the correct valve in stock when I spoke to her yesterday.
