1967 AC Compressor, where to buy?

Hello all, need a new Ac compressor for my 67. Dont want to buy anything that is cheaply rebuilt, would prefer new, called local dealer, not available. Dealer did say that part number 15-2226 was for 72 vette but did not know if applicable for 67. Can anyone help me out there? Want to buy new piece, any shared experiences welcomed.
    Thanks in advance.

Advance Auto sells AC Delco rebuilt alternators and may of had AC Delco A6 rebuilt compressors available once. Another place to check is a AC Delco parts store. Unable to call my local one at this time to check. I do know that the original air conditioner compressor still on my 70 is a smaller cubic inch model than what came on the 70 Impala. I don't know what was put on 67 Corvettes. The one for the 72 could be the larger cubic inch model, do not know if Corvettes continued with the smaller compressors like on my 70. Do know that when I checked on a replacement compressor for my 70 years ago that two was offered and it had to do with the drive belt pulley size. Interesting that a new one is still available for a 72 Corvette.

I am in the same boat for my 66. My rebuilt A6 has failed twice at the shaft seal

I purchased a new one off ebay and it had metric threads on the mounting flange, did not want to convert.
Note also you require electrical connection for clutch at 10 O'clock but that can be changed by pulling clutch.

Best lead I have so far is Old Air Products around $425 new.

      keep in touch

Tony I read an article in Corvette Fever, March 1999 issue that covered rebuilding the A-6 compressor. Several special tools required for this. The article covered work done by Curtis Clark at Classic Auto Manufacturing Company in Tampa, FL. They may be still in business rebuilding compressors.

The seal seems to be where they always fail. The Autozone $70 rebuilds use a cheap seal that fails easily. The correct ceramic seal requires a special tool to install and still has a high failure rate.

Amazing how all this GM stuff worked well when new and lasted a long time. When reubilt, it goes to crap fast! I have been told by several rebuilders that the "correct" ceramic seal is just not right althought it looks exact. May this is why the Old Air Products compressor is $425.00? I have not tried one of the Old Air compressors so it may fail quickly also.

Most of the auto store compressors will not have the correct clutch for Mid-year applications. I hear Classic Auto Air in Tampa has been sold to investors. Another site I frequent notes that Classic was not even answering their phone this week.

I like Old Air Products. They delivered 2 boxes to me this week. I have always had good service from their products for whatever that is worth. Probably nothing!!!!
