go to the woodpile and choose a green locust or oak log about 2" in diameter and about 2 foot long, put it in a lathe, turn one end down to just uinder the ID of the fill tube, insert me oak in tube and jiggle it back and forth tapping the tube with a rubber-headed hammer. have intake in vice and buddy grasping the tube while you tap on tube and rotate mr oak.good luck. mike- Top

Mikes got a good idea but if you dont have a lathe, and the manifolds off, turn it over and use a flat punch or round stock and just tap it out from the bottom. If its on the car work it back on forth with semi gentle taps with a rubber hammer Phil 8063- Top

Keep in mind that if you remove it, you will not be able to re-install it with the same interference (tight) fit that it originally had. These tubes are, basically, a "swaged-in-place" sort of thing. This is a "one-time-only" thing. It is possible to re-establish an interference fit by "knurling", "centerpunching" or otherwise upsetting metal on the manifold machined hole. I've never found these to work very well, though, in the long run---usually the tube gets loose again.
If you are going to use a new tube and the tube is properly made, it will work ok.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Aluminum intake: removal of the oil fill tube?
you can also take the used tube to your local mechanic or muffler shop and ask the guy to use his pipe expander to swell the diameter a few thousanths of an inch and you will again have the press fit you are looking for. Usual cost, a box of Duncan Donuts will "get 'er done"!- Top
