    1957 Fuelie...how can you tell?

I'm looking at a 1957 3 speed and the seller thinks it may have originally been a fuelie. It has 2x4's on it right now. I have heard there is a difference in the wiring harness and the throttle linkage. Are there any other indicators besides these two things (if they are true) and the obvious fuelie nameplates in the coves and on the deck?

Also, I've seen some 1957's with a small raised lump just over the key lock on the rear deck while many do not have it. Is this something that gets inadvertantly sanded off or was it specific to a certain production run?

    Thanks in advance.

57 fi throttle rods have been repo'd for years now. repo lacks mfgr logo on the bracket and the uppermost end of the rod isn't sheared of like an original. take a knowledgable judge with you to evaluate as real fi's aren't as common as clones. mike

Regarding '57 Fuelies, why is it that the Corvette magazines seem to always show fuelies on featured cars and those for sale? Could it be that there are now more '57 fuelies in existence that were ever made by GM?
