    Clutch Rod Hole on 56-57

Anyone know if the automatic equipped cars had clutch rod holes in the firewall as a default? If so, were they plugged with a grommet for automatics? Also, what is the correct diameter for the hole? Mine was Bubbafied and I am trying to make it right. Any guidance on the proper hole location would be helpful also. I can't find any dimensions in the AIM or in Adams book.

    Thanks,
    David

Re: Clutch Rod Hole on 56-57

My 57 was an automatic but had a 4 speed when I purchased it. The firewall was 'attacked' to create a hole for the push rod which indicates to me there was no hole in the firewall for an automatic car. The bracket on the frame was also positioned twice before they got it right as evidenced by the weld from the first try, the welds on the bracket to frame were poorly made. Ser # 19xx
