Somewhere in the archives I've seen the specs. I had them once, but lost after a computer crash a couple years ago.

Do you have a copy of the AMA specs - part of the free GM "restoration package?"

        Re: 63 front springs

I called in and requested this information package after learning about it here. Quite a wealth of information. If you have not done so, get this for your car. Can't beat the price.

Here's what it says of the '63 front spring:
        Size:
        coil design height x I.D - 8.56 x 3.80
        bar length x dia. - 96.982 x .552
spring rate - 260 lb. per in.
wheel rate - 80.5 lb. per in.
        Design load @ design height - 1340 @8.56

elsewhere in the general data section it mentions:
        part number - 3832684
no if coils - 5.67 active, 7.094 total
        OD - 4.904
PD - 4.352 (as in pitch dia.)
        Free height - 13.714

Call the GM customer service 800 number. They will want the VIN.

                Stan -

                (800) 222-1020, have your VIN handy; you want the "restoration package".
