1963 exhaust bezels..seam..no seam?

I've heard and read much about the exhaust bezels on the 1963 Corvette. Does anyone know the "real skinny" on whether the bezels had (or not) a seam at the bottom of the bezel. Thanks in advance. Mike #28614

The design was unique for '63 - fabricated stainless steel. There is an open seam on the bottom with a spot weld to keep the shape. It often breaks but can be easily repaired by a competent welder.

Later bezels were chrome plated die cast pot metal, which corrode and pit. The '63 bezels are essentially indestructible.

64 and 65 bezels were also stainless but larger OD than the 63. it was the 66 and 67 bezels that were pot metal castings. mike
