    mystery ignition shielding piece..please ID

Below is a piece of ignition shielding I received with a 300hp 65. Never seen one like this before... Anybody know what the correct application for this piece would be?

        Jim-----

Pictured is a GM #3980192 shield. It was used for the passenger side rear position for 1970-79 Corvettes with radio.

On my old 1979 that piece covered the passenger side rear two sparkplugs. The round area with hole was for access to the temp sensor (in head) for the optional auxiliary electric rad fan. I believe the fan was part of RPO ZN1 Trailer Package (extra cooling) but I could be wrong. The fan does not show up as an RPO per se in the literature.

Jim I have the ignition shield that you have pictured. This ignition shielding came on my original owner 1970 Corvette and is located on the passenger side of the engine at the rear. Through the hole in the shielding the wiring for the TCS system connects to the temperature sensor. My 1970 350/300 has two temperature sensors, one for the TCS system and another temperature sensor for the temperature guage in the instrument guage panel.
