    wiring problemon gauges

    Hi

I purchased a wire harness for my 1962 corvette from Lectric Limited. Installed it and everything works but I seem to have one problem.I followed their diagram. The gas gauge does not move and the Amp ( Battery) meter bounces around. Could the problem be that the diagram is wrong and the wires on those two gauges need to be reversed? I could really use some help here.

    Thanks..........John

      Hi Roy.
I did a complete frame off restoration and installed a new tank and wiring harness.I'm grounded ok. Someone mentioned awhile ago about the lectric limited wiring diagram being wrong and he had a similar problem. Would you know anything about this? Is there any easy way to test this? If I were to switch the wires between the fuel gauge and battery gauge could it do harm to the gauges if that was not the problem ? I'm thinking it might be the problem because right now the Battery gauge is jumping when I start the engine and the gas gauge stays at empty.

      Any help is appreciated.........Thanks.....John

        Just look under my 62.

Amp Gauge driver side terminal - black wire & radio cap

        passenger side- 4 red wires

Fuel gauge driver side- pink wire

        passenger side - brown wire

          John,

Why not just move the amp wire to the fuel gauge and leave the amp gauge disconnected and see what happens? I've heard the amp gauge is delicate but I doubt you would damage the fuel gauge with a wire intended for the amp gauge.

            Thanks Bruce and Don

I am going to try to switch the wires and see if that works. I heard from a few people that the Lectric Limited wire diagram was wrong.

            Thanks....John
