    Please...I need 69 chassis pics...Please

I would really appreciate anyone that could e-mail me or post pics of chassis & suspension markings for a 69 BB. I live no where near any NCRS events so it's almost impossible for me to attend any shows to get my own pics of Top Flight 69's. I have been looking over the past year and a bit on line and saving any examples that I run across but it will soon be time to apply these markings and I really don't have much...most of what I do have are questionable because they are from cars that were listed on ebay. So if anyone could possibly help me out with some of these pics of their, their friends, their friends friend, sister's, brother's, cat's, gold fishes or what ever, restorations of a 69 Top Flight, then I'd be forever gratefull. Oh and if it sounds like I'm desperate...I am!

    Thanks:)

Greg, Why not pick up a chassis detailing kit from Quanta? It comes with detailed marking instructions.

And, I'd recommend the MF Dobbins book as it has good pictures, as well as Tripoli's Chassis Restoration book. Both are available through the NCRS bookstore.

        Thanks guys, but...

About a year and a half ago I tried to order the Quanta kit along with a bunch of other paints but then they informed me that they can't ship paint to Canada. I checked around and sure enough some enviromental law makes it cost prohibitive for a guy like myself to get it. Eastwood can do it because they truck it across to Ontario and ship from there.

So I thought no big deal, I'll just order the frame and driveshaft stencil and use what marking I have found on my car and match those with model paints...which for the most part I have done. I had remembered reading about markings in the TIM&JG so I thought that would fill in any "missing" markings when in fact it raised more questions. The TIM&JG has been my bible for everything so far and I would be lost with out it, with out a doubt my best investment, but it does come up a little short in describing how to REPRODUCE chassis markings because that isn't the intent of the manual. Even though I have color matched a few of my original markings, I still can't say for sure how large the brush marks should be or were they paint dabs??...probably depends on where they were. As far a frame markings, I couldn't find any at all so I am totally lost here. I cleaned the frame as best as I could but all I could find was black paint from my body on resto back in 88. Wish I had known better back then but I didn't.

I am a little leary about ordering more books in hopes of finding info on chassis markings. I bought the 68-72 Fact Book because I had thought that that would do it for me but it wasn't much help. Then Rick Bizzoco's 1969 Stingray Guidebook was suggested as "what I need". Went to ebay and bought that and I just received it yesterday. I have to say it is a great book in a lot of respects but again it isn't much help with chassis markings. To honest, I was going to get the 1953-1972 Chassis restoration book just for these markings but then someone on this forum mentioned that it wouldn't really help me with my "little" quest so I decided against it.

So in the end I still will have to some how get pics e-mailed to me or snail mailed to me and I'll pay for them if need be, keep looking on-line and hope to find what I need, or some how find a way to attend a NCRS event and get my own pics of these amazing vehicals. Sorry if I sound desparate but I'm running out of options and I'll soon have to start reassembly and I just don't want to do it all wrong.

Sorry for the long response but I just wanted to explain my situation....geez, I think I need a cold one!

        Thanks.

            Greg,

Given the situation, could you buy the instructions alone from Quanta? You know, the kit but without paint?
Or buy one from another Vette owner? You might advertise on that other Corvette-related Forum that allows free ads.

            Just a thought.

That's a good idea Patrick...never even thought of that!

I did have a member offer to e-mail me some pics so I am quite gratefull for that but the more pics and knowledge I can get on this issue, the better the quality and end result will be so I think I'll contact Quanta and see what they say as well.

Well I just got an e-mail back from Quanta and they can't help me. Anyone else have pics they are willing to share? Thanks.
