    C2 64 non-radio question

I have a documented 64 non-radio car...but it did have a radio installed at one time, probably with all the right straps and condensors, etc. All has been removed ( to get the car to match the window sticker) but one thing - a ground strap "junction point"(bracket) which is riveted with two "peened" aluminum rivets to the bulhhead about 6 inches below the place where the antenna hole in the body would be on a radio car. I'm guessng/hoping that this strap was on all cars, both radio and non-radio.

Does anyone have a 64 non-radio car who can tell me if they also do or do not have this bracket.

This is a repost of a 3/8/06 message which may have been misunderstood...so I tried to ask it differently.

    Larry,

Here's the bracket that you are refering too. (#7) This is the radio installation sheet for a 63 but likely the same for 64. Difficult to tell but because there are no instructions for installing the bracket, and the lack of part numbers for the rivets, I would guess that the bracket may be an existing part and not necessarily part of the radio package. I'm not sure why the part number for the bracket is listed though. I can only tell you this for sure. I have a 66 no radio car and there has never been a bracket for the power antenna mounted to this area. That doesn't mean it's the same for 64 though. At least the drawing will help others identify the bracket that you are refering to.

      Larry,

I'm now sure that the bracket that is riveted to the shield panel in a 64 is correct and was installed even if the radio optio was not ordered. Just looked at the shipping list for the radio package and the bracket is not included which means every car was supposed to get one.

Item #7 in the scan above is not the bracket that rivets to the skirt but is actually the brace that would connect to the antenna body.

Thanks for the detailed research and response. I too had thought that #7 from the AIM was the bracket in question but I can see now that it is the antenna support bracket. Hopefully someone has a 64 Non-radio car and can confirm what you have deduced. The orig owner of my car was an Indiana Hwy Patrolman who had a relationship with the Delco factory in Kokomo, In. He told me he ordered the car non-radio because he wasn't willing to pay the Chevy price and that the engineers at Delco installed a correct radio...which was removed by an interim owner. I removed the clip, screw, ground strap and antenna support from the bracket in question and have them if anyone needs them.
