I noticed a thread pretty far down the thread list inquiring about these screws. 1968-73 Corvettes used screw GM #3843505 for this application and 74-75 used screw GM #3849364. Neither of these screws was ever available in SERVICE, and I can't find any specs on the 3849364. However, the 3843505 was a #8-18 flat head, countersunk, phillips sheet metal screw of 1/2" length. It was finished in black phosphate and the head diameter was 1/4". The only unusual feature of this screw was that it had a very "short taper" countersunk section and, in that way, differed from "standard" screws of this configuration.
In any good hardware store you can purchase very similar screws. The only difference will be that they will have a "longer taper" countersunk section and they will be zinc plated or stainless. Buy either of these. Paint the heads with Quanta "black oxide" spray paint. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees F to improve durability. Install. No one will ever know the difference from the originals.
