Thinking about buying a brand new leftover white 2005 Coupe. Is has every option including the extra top but not the Navigation system. Before tax and tags I can get it for 47,700. The dealer says it is what they have in it but I really don't believe them. Anybody know what they actually have in this one- model-year-old car?

Sounds high. A friend paid less than that for a 2006. No extra top, no HUD, no Z51, no Nav. Could be the difference.
I think he paid between 44 and 45.

BEWARE!
The dealer is probably referring to the original invoice as his cost.
How many miles on the car? If any, it is a demo and a left over '05. I believe GM will give him additional credits for both. Look up the used car price, add for the mileage and there you go!
How much can you buy a low-mile '05 for? There are too many out there. A full-option, 1,400 mile, '05 convert, including an additional $3,000 set of wheels just sold on E-bay for $48K.
Real value is the the key point to remember, as soon as you leave the dealer,
the car is nearly two-years old. Unless you feel a compulsion to be the "First Owner" your price should be adjusted downward accordingly.

Unless things have changed, GM has what is commonly called Dealer Holdback, which I believe is 3% of the sticker price, which he gets when he sells the car. So check the sticker price and you can calculate how much he will get from GM as a profit on top of any profit he makes on your actaul selling price.- Top

If you like the car buy it if you have the money. Stop worrying about the deal and worry about the car.
What other business can you sell a product for $50,000 and if you make $1500 you are charging too much. The manufacturer of your computer made more than that and I will bet you didn't pay $50K for it. There is no other retail business that works on a 3% markup and then pays the salesman a commission. That is why auto dealers have such a shady reputation, most have to resort to trickery to make a fair profit.
The deal is what is ruining the automobile business today. Everyone tries to get the best deal and no one cares what the car is. If it has 0% financing or a big rebate it sells even if it a piece of junk.
How many of us would be willing to part with our beloved toys if we were limited to a 3% profit. Something is worth what you are willing to pay for it no more no less.- Top
