    F40 suspension Rear 1965 vette.

In the NCRS judging manual (second edition) it states that the bolts on the link between the stabilizer bar and the trailing arm are " The mounting hardware is cadmium or zinc plated, while the bolts attaching the links to the stabilizer shaft are natural finish." it does not state what finish is on the nuts . Are they natural metal or plated? They are a special thin type of nut.

Thanks in advance for insight into this,

    Jack-----

The GM spec on the GM #124829 nuts used for this application is a 3/8"-16 nut of 7/32" thickness. It is of GM 286M material (SAE grade 5) and is zinc plated. You can still purchase this nut from GM if you wish------for about 4 bucks each.

      Jack----

By the way, the rear sway bar is NOT part of the F-40/F-41 suspension package. It is supplied only as part of the big block engine package and is on cars regardless of suspension option.

From 1975 onward, the rear sway bar WAS made part of the FE-7 HD suspension package. However, this was a 7/16" bar and not the same as the 9/16" bars used for 65-74 big blocks.
