    1965 Fan clutch test

Can anyone please tell me what the most effective method of testing a fan clutch on a 1965 396 is? Thank you.

    Rick-----

I've never found a method for testing these things that I'd call reliable enough to recommend. In general, I'd say if the fan clutch is original to the car and the car has 50,000 miles or more on it, the fan clutch is very likely "deficient" as far as performance goes.

Get the engine good and hot, shut it off and count the fan revolutions, should be three to five max. Not 100% accurate, but a good indicator.
