    c-3 body removal

My father recently purchased a 69 convertible L36 4-speed. The car is all there but needs restoration and seemed like a worthwhile father/son project. We would like to start by removing the body and I was wondering if there is something published which would take me through the process in a step by step manner. We have the assembly and service manuals so I imagine I could figure it out by looking through those but figure someone might have put together a "how to" manual. I see there are many manuals available through NCRS, is one of those what I'm looking for? Any advice on how to proceed is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

The following book does just wahat you want to do, on a '69 BB convertible. That book plus the assembly instruction manual (AIM) will be very useful.

    Chevrolet Corvette Restoration Guide
    Lindsay Porter

    Format: Paperback: 256 pages.
    Publisher: Motorbooks Intl
    ISBN: 0760303258
    List price: $21.95

Also, the '69 Stingray Guidebook by Rick Bizzoco is an invaluable resource.

Just my thoughts after 1.5 years of resurrecting a '69 BB convertible.

Yes, Rick Bizzoco and his book have been great resources for me as has this web site. I'm about 50% done with my 68 Body Off project.

It's a great project, but plan on more time and money than you are planning on to complete it. Simple equation: What you think it will take for time and what you think for budget, then double those and it still will take longer and cost more

But it's great to see it all come together, plan on taking your time and you'll be fine.

If you need more help feel free to ask,

      Cheers,

Thanks for the input, I'm sure I'll be asking lots more questions along the way! We have done a few other cars and I believe your estimate equation 100%:) Our first father/son was a 33 ford pick up which me made into a streetrod. It was my first car and a great experience for a 15 year old. Since then we have done a 71 chevelle convertible BB, a Lotus Super 7, several Morgans and a vintage FF. (Dad likes the British stuff!) I have to admit I'm more excited about the Corvette than any of the others!
