    Weatherstripping adhesive

The 66 Judging Manual (page16) states that "on both convertibles and coupes, black waterproofing compound (not silicone) is used on the body/windshield post to seal the weatherstripping". This sentence, being inconspicuously located in this paragraph, as opposed to in the paragraph decribing the post/pillar weatherstripping, caused me to miss it and consequently, I used the brown/yellow weatherstripping adhesive under the weatherstrip against the body.

Before I change it to the black waterproofing compound, I'd like to get a second opinion on this -- i.e., was black compound used here as opposed th the standard adhesive?

    Regards,

    Re: Weatherstripping adhesive

    Dave -

I don't have a '66 A.I.M., but this area is covered in the '67 A.I.M. in UPC 1Asm, sheet F16. The only "yellow adhesive" applications shown (flag #55 items)are for the coupe over-door weatherstrip, the lower flap portion of the convertible pillar post weatherstrip to the body, and the upper portion of that weatherstrip to the stainless retainer channel. All other flag items (#51, #78, and #80) are black sealers and cements.

Each numbered "flag" item (lubricants, adhesives, sealers, cements, etc.) is called out in detail by each specific application in the UPC 0 section, or in the UPC 14 section for earlier cars.
