    C-3, Rocker Moldings

Can these be stripped and reanodized correctly? Who is recommended? In Texas?

    Thanks,
    Scott

    Re: C-3, Rocker Moldings

A fellow Illinois Chapter member had this done at a location in the Chicagoland area. I was after him for three years to write a story for The Restorer -- alas without success. Unless someone on this board has had dealings with a commercial anodizer in Texas, you will have to blaze that ground yourself.

I recommend face-to-face contact for any plating operations. You and the platter need to be sure you both understand what is, and more importantly what is not, to be done. In the case of the C3 rocker moldings you need to show the platter the part so that both of you are sure it will fit the tanks he will use. You will want to establish how the original anodizing is to be removed. I believe in the case of my colleague it was removed electrically, rather than by grinding. Electrical removal, although more complicated for the platter, will result in less chance of damage to your parts. IIRC the guy was able to polish the moldings himself after the shop removed the original anodizing. After he polished them they reapplied the clear anodize coating.

      Scott,
I am in the same situation only with a set of C2 rocker covers. I have removed the old anodize coating with sandpaper, done some polishing and am looking for someone in the Charlottew are that can do the anodizing. The small little sand blasting pits take forever to polish out, I have one almost done, and have a six hours invested I hope we both find someone who has experience with a plater. Good luck with your project. At $130 a pair I keep think about repros.
