    65 Body Mount Hardware

    Hi guys!

I'm still working on my 65 body off. I'm replacing the body mount hardware and ran into a discrepancy. My original #1 body mount hardware on both sides differs from the aim and the replacement kit. My original set up has the sqaure shims on top of the spacer, and the AIM shows them below the spacer. Also, the washer between the frame bracket and the lock washer on the original is much larger and thicker than the one in the kit (see pic). I'm thinking will bead blast the original large washer and just reuse it instead of the one provided in the kit. I'm also thinking I will replace the square shims on top of the spacer as it was originally set up. Any thoughts on how this will judge?

Don, the "kit" looks total wrong. typical head marking on mid years is "RSC" and "WB" and thread lead in is pointed. where was the tape securing the shims? that will help determine where the spacer was in relation to the shims. Cars i've disassembled had the shims on top of the spacer. the points on the shims typical point down.

Thanks Gene. I was wrong on the AIM. The AIM does show the square shims on top of the spacer, with points down as mine was set up. The headmark on the original bolt is "RSC" with the taper. I think I can bead blast and replate the original bolt and large washer and use them again.

      Thanks!
