63 Under Seat and Storage Area Colors

There's a red 63 vert on eBay and noticed that the stoage compartments under the seat and behind the seats (jack location) are all painted red along with the red interior. I've seen this before too. Isn't this suppose to be bare fiberglass (dark gray) or did some cars come like this?

Just checked the 63/64 JG and the storage compartment is painted low gloss and coordinated with the carpet color.
