    78 pace car decals/front spoiler

the earlier comments and questions about the point deductions whether your car has decals or not, brings to mind another question,,, the front spoiler on the 78 pace car was shipped to the dealer off because they couldnt get up the truck haulers ramps,, so was left to dealer to put them on, so if im being judged like at B.gold,, they want it off,, (thats what they told me directly last yr.),, what about it ncrs??? doug

Silver Anniversary also had one code #ZN1 with the trailering package ( see my post below)

This decal and spoiler stuff is getting crazy! If the NCRS standard were to be "as delivered to the dealer with any factory installed equipment/options" then one would have to show the car with all shipping protectors, dirt and plant inspection stickers still affixed to the windshield, in other words, a completely unprepped vehicle! Not practical. If the car is to be judged in the "as delivered from the dealer to the customer with factory installed equipment/options and in "normal New Vehicle Prep condition", would it not mean that that the spoiler and antenna should be attached as it is PART OF NVP?Likewise, the decal set should be able to be shown installed or in the factory boxes in the rear cargo area since the installation of the decals was left up to the DISCRETION of the first time buyer to installed at the time of New Vehicle Prep. So...decals either on or off would be correct! No one should be penalized for installed decals that came with the car.

i beg to differ don,, a car can come right off the assembly line onto the hauler and unloaded at its destination and sold and taken away without any dealer cleaning or prep,, why and how i know this, is cause mine was bought that way,,, so it is practical sometimes in some cases,,, like mine,, doug

Yes, Don's response seemes to be the current NCRS position.
As this was discussed at this year's Judges Retreat,
in the "Corvette Judging Reference Manual" - Section 2, #2, "NCRS Judging Standard," The key phrase includes "...which has undergone the-then current Chevrolet Dealer New Car Preparation for delivery to the purchaser,...
This leaves the choice of installation to the Purchaser, ie: the decals and /or spoiler could have been installed or not.
The same ruling has applied to other areas as well. For example, concensus is that the '67 Rallye wheel center caps were likewise delivered to the dealer inside the car.

                Au Contrare.
Like all Chevy dealers around here back in the day.
My Newly delivered '78 Silver Anniversary was Dealer Prepped from a check list. Some of the more obvious steps were to remove the plastic from the seats, and all protective items, fluids were checked, the car was washed and even though I had written into the contract that it NOT be buffed, they buffed it anyway, burning through that pithetically thin paint and peeling back some of the tape strips. Apparently they thought that a shiney car car would cover up the sloppily hand groud wheel openings and all of the cracks at every bonding strip.

I find..if I save a picture as a PDF file then I can't get it to post. ..but as a JPEG file it works for me.

Normally your internet provider offers a web page service where you can upload a picture from your saved file. Once uploaded and you are viewing it..you can click on the file name..copy and then paste the file name into the URL box below your post.

Pictures really help move the hobby forward by sharing visuals that make things easier to understand.

I was surprised to hear that 1978 Pace Cars were delivered to Dealers without the front spoiler installed..that is news to me. Oddly enough I took my front spoiler off to re-paint it years ago..ended up selling the car and that 3 piece spoiler is in the Garage somewhere.

I'm like Joe...surprised to hear that the front spoiler was removed for shipping. GM had to have a major problem once they became standard in 80-81 and someone would have been screaming at the engineers for designing a front end that had to be shipped.

The more likely scenario was that that individual carrier had a problem and removed it...than had the dealer do a reinstall.

The situation got tigher with C4s and C5s as the front air dams got closer to the ground leaving less tolerance. Can't believe they redesigned an entire trucking fleet to accommodate a few sports cars.

                              Tom -

We built six hundred Verti-Pak railroad cars (and six railhead ramp facilities) in order to ship the Vega standing on its nose like a side of beef; it was Ed Cole's idea, so nothing stood in its way
