I would like to know what is the correct Distributor cap for 1962 with 340 hp. I have two caps one has no Delco Remy logo on the top, no doors and is attached with the side spring clips; the other has two doors, Delco Remy (with an R) on top and is attached with the spring/screw pins, I believe both are in correct, but before I go after the wrong one I do not want to get rid of something that may be correct. Dennis, correct unit for '62 "340" is two window, Delco-Remy (No "R") "Patent Pending" I believe the Orange and white "string pull" boxes D-324 (NOT D-324R) will yield you the correct unit if you can find one. -

I agree completely with Bill. Also, these caps appear for auction on eBay with some degree of regularity. Just make sure that you inquire as to the presence or absence of the "R" if it's not clearly stated in the item description. No, these caps are not available any more. You used to find a jillion at swap meets, $35 to $45 then around $55 to $65. Now They are getting scarce and I have seen ads at $75 for NOS with the "R"! The NOS non-"R" will cost you $200 to $300 dollars!(If you can find one). A friend of mine says he has found a horde of these non-"R" caps and if all goes well we should be able to have them at $75 to $100 each, IF all goes well.

I'm not selling distributor caps. I don't intend to sell distributor caps with or without the "R". I'm only commenting on what I expect a big parts vendor to do in the future if all goes well. If it does, he'll advertise and sell them. I ain't go nuttin to do with it!
