Help !
I'm in the middle of a restoration project on my 12-bolt rear end and I have
run into a wall. I think if any community can help, it would be you guys !
The brake backing plates on my 12-bolt rear were removed for the resotration
process. All but one bolt broke in the process. I am trying to find the same
bolts ( good luck ! ) with no success. I have tried Paragon, but they do not
offer this particular bolt.
These are 3/8-24 UNF x 1.00 long and are grade five ( 5 ) with a TR head mark.
There are eight ( 8 ) of these in total and I would expect that the same bolt,
split lock washer & nut combination would have been used on the 69 Corvette to
attach its rear brake backing plates. Despite the fact that the Vette uses
discs in that area, would the backing plates be mounted the same way? If the
answer is yes, can any members suggest where I can find these bolts in an NOS
state or something similar?
Sorry for the rush here, by the assembly is being held up due to this
oversight on my part.
Here a picture of the only survivor ( bolt ) and one broken with the washer
and nut.
Thanks,
Steve
