    Re: C2- Brake Pad Shims?...Joe L.?

I recently installed the 641 pads on my '66 and applied the backing shims as noted with the enclosed instructions and suggested by Joe L. Take your time applying the shims and make sure sure it lines up properly with the backing plate.

John, was there any difficulty in installing the pads eg. tight fit with the shims vs. without the shims? Do the shims in fact prevent squeel? Thanx.

      Don,
I was able to get the pads installed with the shims so you do have enough room. I only did the front rotors and plan to do the backs this spring. As far as the fronts go they seem pretty quiet. As for the shims, what I did was to install them a day or so before I planned to insert the pads as to give the shims so time to adhere to the backing plate. I also applied some weight on top of the shim once I had placed it on the backing plate, and let it sit overnight, to help with the adhesion. I think this helped.
