    CC's Repro Delco Dist. Cap

About 3 weeks ago there was a short discussion regarding Corvette Central's Reproduction Delco Distributor Cap for $64.95. Some thought it would judge pretty well. I believe it was Brian McHale who had ordered one and was awaiting arrival to do a more closer inspection againt an original. Brian, if it was you, have you had a chance to do any more inspections or does anyone have any more comments regarding this cap. Thank you

I did report back on the cap I received and do think it will judge well. I made comment to the depth of the depresions inbetween the towers others agreed that they seemed a little deep. Joe Lucia made comment that millions of these cap's were produced from many molds and that there were subtle differences between them. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

I started that thread. Brian has accurately summarized the responses. I ordered one of these caps, and it came yesterday. Looks great, but I'm no judge. Anything in particular you wish to know about it?

Thank You both for the update. I must have missed something along the way.
I don't have a current catalog for 63-67 from Corvette Central. Would you happen to have their part number for this item? Also do you know of any other aftermarket handling these? Thank You

There must be other vendors selling this. But I haven't seen any yet.

CC's p/n is 271050. It's a Chevy licensed restoration part. The Chevy p/n is 1971244. Comes in a Chevy/Delco box. The box and the part both say "Made in the USA" on them. When's the last time you saw that?

Found this on ZIP for $59.95, anyone know if it's the same as CC's repro?

Geoff, These are being marketed as GM Restoreation Parts. And they look good.

                    Geoffrey-----

Come on! Get the "broach buster" scope of yours out and, for once, start using it to check out things related to Corvettes instead of "things you shouldn't be looking at". If the "broach buster" won't let you inspect these caps in the finest detail, then maybe an electron microscope examination is in order. We need to be sure that the "grain structure" and "particle size" used in the formulation and curing of the plastic is AS ORIGINAL.

What about the aluminum used for the terminals and contacts? Is it alloyed the same as original or is it bogus? Spectrophotometric examination is in order here. Let's get to the bottom of this and not be deceived by those who would lead us astray. In this regard, we consider you a leader. Step to the forefront and show us the way. Enquiring minds want to know.
