After 18 moves since 1961, old photos I had from that era disappeared somewhere along the line; I found the '57 Sebring slides four years ago along with some of my AM/SP blown nailhead-powered '53 Corvette and set-back Caddy-powered '51 Ford, but no photos of the fueler ("Hell's Fire")
The fueler had a locally-built Logghe tube frame, Al Bergler aluminum panels, and I ran a Chrysler Marine block and heads with a Moldex crank, Carillo Rods, Arias pistons, Isky cam, Joe Hunt Vertex mag, Ed Pink 6-71 with Hilborn/Enderle injection, Bear/Velvetouch clutch, and a 3.08 Pontiac rear end (with a 3/8" steel shield on it). I sold it to Benny Osborn in 1963, and it re-surfaced seven years ago at the Pomona/Bakersfield Nostalgia Drags. The open trailer and '57 Ford station wagon turned to iron oxide decades ago.- Top

Re: I Wanna See A Pic Of......
Thanks John. Would be great if the current owner of your car would allow you to get a few pic's of you in the car next time it's in your area.
I know how pic's have a habit of disappearing over the years. I lost several every time I got another divorce. Next wife always thought it was "her special duty" to discard all pic's from the previous wife era.- Top

Re: I Wanna See A Pic Of......
I got the hair-brained idea two years ago to renew my dragster license that expired 44 years ago in 1962, just to "do it again". Spent three days at Atco Dragway, made 14 runs, and renewed it; absolutely the most fun you can have with your shoes on, couldn't believe how much more violent the first 100 feet were vs. 1961's clutches and tires

Re: I Wanna See A Pic Of......
Excellent pic John. Thanks. That had to be a lot of fun again after all the years. Once racing is in the blood, it's likely to surface again and again as the years go by. Something about the smell of racing fuel I suppose.
I thought it was out of my system completely by the late 80's but someone offered a ride in a vintage Corvette at Road America that I couldn't pass up. I was right back in it again and drove for a few years. I'd do it again today if it wasn't so expensive.- Top

My reaction times were nothing to write home about until the third day, when I was more comfortable with the car's launch behavior. Dunno how they compared with my fueler days 44 years ago, as most local/regional strips in those days had a flagman, not Chrondeks- Top
