I have removed the set screw from the knob for my heater switch/defroster control assembly on my 58. Is there anything else that I should have do to remove the knob? The knob won't budge and I don't want to to anything which might possibly harm the switch.

Re: C1 Heater Switch Knob
Hi John
Pull the switch knob all the way out. With the set screw out, try putting some PB Blaster in the hole. Soak a Q-Tip and let it drip in the hole. Let it sit over night but keep checking if you can put more in the hole. Then try gripping the shaft with needle nose vise grips and work the knob off. BUT put something on the vise grip jaws to protect the shaft.
Good Luck............John- Top

Re: C1 Heater Switch Knob
Thanks for the advice, Mike and John. Turns out that the knob was, in fact, glued to the shaft. I was able to seperate the plastic knob from the brass insert and then successfully removed the brass insert from the shaft using a flaring tool as a puller. Looks like some kind of epoxy was used to "reinforce" the set screw.- Top
