    Pirkle

I sent John Pirkle an alternator and a starter back in November and I haven't received them back yet. I have left messages as well as e-mails to get a status. No reply at all. Is there a better way to get in touch with them other than the number that is in the driveline? Has anyone else had the same issues? I need to finish this car. Thanks for any help.

I just got one back from him. He had it about 75 days. I have not put it on the car yet but looks great. Communication with him was good no issue.

Something is wrong with this picture. John Pirkle is a man of his word (but busy) and is easy to get ahold of. Check your number again. Terry

John had my voltage regulator for a few months, since I told him I wasn't in a hurry for it. After about 10 weeks I called and he said he'd had a problem with his plater and he had to re-do it to get it right, and was very apologetic. The VR came back as a work of art, I'm afraid to put it on the car now!
Given the craziness of the Corvette market right now, I'm sure all the restoration guys are up to their eyeballs in work right now. If I had to send it over again and wait again, I'd still send it to John.

I have never had a problem getting John/his son on the phone or with his work.

All of the work John has done has been top quality and I would not go any where else to get my work done, at present he is restoring two of my BB starters.

              Regards,

                Re: Agree...

I know he is highly recommended by many on this forum but it took two e-mails to get a reply about a basic quote and he still hasent replied to my last e-mail from a week ago. Maybe he is just too busy right now but if it is this hard to communicate I can just imagine how hard it would be to get an alternator back if I were to send it.

my experience with JP is that he is not much of an emailer - I know some folks might take offense in 2006 if a businessman does not return emails or does so slowly, but John is "old school", best advice I got was to speak with him on the phone if possible. He is also busy, because he is good and well known to be good.

My only fear is that his health is not an issue [again].

And it's true, you are gonna have to grapple with the thought of putting one of his "works of art" back on the car when you get it back - such was the case for the alt he did for me. Beautiful.

                        Re: Pirkle

Three months before Carlisle, I ordered a '67 #693 alternator from John for delivery at Carlisle. When I got up there, he didn't have one, said one of his rebuilder's was out sick for a couple of months.

So I went across the gravel road to a junk vendor, with a milk crate full of rusty alternators. The first one I picked up was built two months behind my engine build date for $15. Talk about getting lucky, I'll take the points hit. PT

When I went to my first NCRS Regional in Callaway, GA to be flight judged I discovered my emergency brake alarm would not blink on my 59. Someone referred me to John. John brought me a new bulb the next morning and gave it to me free of charge. I want ever forget that. Thanks again John

wouldn't it be ideal if all corvette suppliers were as honorable as John-man and John-boy? Quality work unsurpassed in the hobby. mike
