C3: Interior quarter panels

I saw a posting on the Corvette Forum that indicated that the interior quarter panels on a 72 all came with shoulder belt cutouts whether the car actually had shoulder belts or not. Is that correct?

The interior in my car is very original and the quarter panels do have the shoulder belt cutouts but there are no shoulder belts. Also, the ID tag on the seat belts has the code for seat belts only, no shoulder belts.

Matt, I asked the same question on Aug. 28, 2003 regarding my '74. Check the archives for additional info. I replaced the damaged panels with ones with the cut-out. Bill

Thanks Bill - I did look in the archives and saw some previous posts re: the quarter panel cutouts for years other than 72. I guess it's safe to assume that the use of cutout panels applied to most if not all C3 years. Thanks for your response. I guess I'll refinish the panels I have since they're in pretty good condition.

Matt, I wish I could have repaired and refinished my quarter panels. I bought replacements and they are not suitable for NCRS or local car shows for that matter. The ones that came with the car, I think they were original, have a molded vinyl design. The replacements are covered with vinyl which is already starting to peel off. Good luck, Bill
