I just had my tach rebuilt and installed a new cable. I am getting a lot of needle bonce. Is there anything I can do to stop this.

Under what conditions does it bounce? At idle, it should be fairly stable, if you are reving the engine, bounce is normal to some extent.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Plus, if the cable has run dry, there's a good chance the square drive end that enters the distributor has 'chewed' or 'rounded' corners now allowing it to slip as it spins. If this is so (visual verification required), it's time to pull the tach drive cable's inner cable, clean the sheath of dried/caked lubricant, purchase a cut-to fit, replacement inner cable, liberally lubricate it, and re-install it in the outer sheath to eliminate the drive cable's slipping action and consequent tach needle bounce....- Top
