    vin # on 1962 corvette

I have recentley recieved a 1962 corvette for a birthday gift from my wife and have had to do a little work on the car it does not have orig. motor in car but does have a 74 350 also i would like to know if there is any other way of finding vin # on car if not on sterring shaft. The floor on drivers side had been cut open to expose frame on drivers side with # stamped on frame what does this # mean?

Adam - Lucky you!! That number on the frame rail would be the last numbers of the VIN. Preceed those numbers with 20867S, and you should have the full VIN. Post the frame # and someone can help you with the build date of the car. One main assumption is that this frame is the one that originally came with the car. Again, Lucky you...Regards, Dick

      Adam-

IF the car has its original tranny (I don't have any idea whether the bellhousing of a 1974 350 would mate up to a '62 T-10), the other possible place to look is on the top edge of the side cover on the tranny, the last 7 of the VIN should also be stamped there.
