    C-3 (1968) AC question

    Hi,

On the front of the AC evaporator assembly where the top line goes into the coil is a bunch of material that looks loke dried out foam. Underneath is a sensor with a tube to the expansion valve.

What is the foam like material and where can I get a correct replacement material. The stuff is flaking off and almost gone.

    Thanks for the info.

Any facility that does a lot of air conditioning work should have access to the stuff. Check the shops in your area that advertise air conditioning work and see if they still have some. The "stuff" insulates the sensor tube wrapped around the freon line.

It is a 3M product. I am not at my desk right now and cannot access the catalog. I will post later the 3M #

I was wrong. It is a Four Seasons Air product. You should be able to find it at your local Carquest, etc. If you do not have any sucess, send me an e-mail and I will pick up a roll for you.
