1969 Corvette Side Exhaust

I am interested in purchasing a 1969 corvette with side exhaust. Unfortunately, the tank sticker is not available since the gas tank was replaced in the past. Is there any way to verify that the side exhaust are original from the factory? Any guide books or refrence books to help verify the originality of the side exhaust? Thanks for for any help.

A quick and easy way is to look at the rear TL panel and the rear quarters on a 69. There should be no holes and the split between the panel is straight down. There are no hints of exhaust holes. Also the real side exhaust cars had a sheet of insulation between the body and the frame on the sides.

Another place to look is the location of the radio ground straps on the center frame crossmember. Look to see if there are remnants of the flat copper straps which were only used on undercar exhaust cars. If none are present then try to run a screw into the holes or see if you can determine if the holes show threads. If there are threads or a screw runs in easily then the straps were there and it probably was an undercar exhaust.
