I know it's a 350 four bolt main truck engine, but what year? I'm guessing 75-77

'76 pickup built at Baltimore, engine cast/assembled at McKinnon Industries (Canada).

It's not necessarily a 4 bolt main engine, either. Some folks think that all 3970010 blocks are 4 bolt main configuration. They are NOT. Even those used in trucks (and this one would have been installed in a light truck, anyway) were not necessarily 4 bolt. In fact, in the time frame that this engine was built, the majority of 3970010 blocks were NOT 4 bolt. They can be easily converted to 4 bolt, though, assuming that the block is not now 4 bolt and someone feels that is necessary.

Hey John where did you get the suffix info? all I can give is this:

TXD- C-10 truck 1975 = 350cu.in. 2bbl 145hp m/t

TXD- C-20 truck 1975 = 350cu.in. 4bbl 160hp m/t

TXD- C-30 truck 1975 = 350cu.in. 4bbl 160hp m/t

TXD- K-20 truck 1975 = 350cu.in. 4bbl 160hp m/t

As far as I know the egines were assembled at - F = Flint motor

V = Flint engine

T = Tonawanda
Nothing I could find about Canadian engine assembly plants.

i found to be a 4 bolt. i can't every one is but the ones i took apart were

There's no way to determine the main cap configuration without removing the pan on a 3970010 block.

The C6B 140203 is the VIN derivative that reveals the details of the vehicle the engine was installed in.

The 'K' in the K62 13 TXD means the engine was built in the McKinnon plant. I believe 62 13 would be February 13th, 1976.

Hi Mike,
According to the info I have the small block was assembled at three plants, as I said before, but that the info I have goes up to 1975. Also the dates are a little strange, usually it starts with engine plant which is a letter followed by four numbers and no year.

K6213- K = could be engine plant ( where is this plant )

6 = no year was stamped on pad ( only cast into block )

2 = if it was february it would be stamped 02

13 = would be the day

i was just at a seminar with al grenning and he showed how many block stamping were screwed up at the factory.

There were four V-8 engine plants:

"F" ('55-'66) and "V" ('67-up) = Flint V-8
"T" = Tonawanda
"K" = McKinnon Industries (Canada) - now St. Catherines Engine Plant
"S" = Saginaw Service Engine Plant (very rare, hardly ever see one)

All used the same stamp format:

Plant Character
MMDD (month/day)
XX Code Suffix (suffix was three characters from 1970-up)
